Professional and General Liability Insurence Benefits
Professional and general liability insurance benefits are included in your Professional Member membership in the Association at no additional cost.
Professional coverage, or malpractice coverage, is intended to cover you for unintentional damages you cause a client through negligence or ignorance. We all hope you never have such a claim, but we live in a litigious society where some people are looking to get rich by falsely charging you with negligence thereby causing them harm. There are a few attorneys who make a good living because they believe these false charges are true.
Carrying malpractice coverage is a necessary cost of doing business in America and Canada today. The package offered here compares with packages selling from $600.00 to $1500.00 US. The reason the Calamity Benefit Package of the Biofeedback Association is so attractively priced is because of the strict requirements for membership.
Your best defense against malpractice claims is a strong professional code of ethics, a solid informed consent form and an outstanding professional liability defense attorney. You are expected to provide your clients with the first item, keep a copy of the second in your client's file and the Biofeedback Association will provide you with the third.
Your malpractice coverage provides you the following protection against claims for damages which occurred while you are or were a member of the Association:
- Up to $2,000,000.00 US per claim
- Up to $10,000,000.00 US aggregate
- Necessary attorney fees
- Available for both the USA and Canada
General Liability coverage also covers you in the event you cause injury to people or property within the scope of your business but not including professional, intentional, home or vehicle liability coverage. There are no "inside limits" or "reduced limits" in this protection. This coverage provides you the following protection:
- Up to $2,000,000.00 US per occurrence
- Up to $2,000,000.00 US for completed products
- Up to $3,000,000.00 US aggregate
- Up to $100,000 US for damage to premises you rent
- Necessary attorney fees
- Available for both the USA and Canada
Important Disclosures:
Professional protection for biofeedback professionals is intended to cover biofeedback training and related services except medical biofeedback services involving the insertion of a probe into the body cavity through the skin, anus or vagina. Biofeedback training and services include the following:
- Relaxation
- Helping clients manage their stress through relaxation
- Muscle re-education
- Helping clients manage their pain through muscle re-education
- Helping clients achieve peak performance through relaxation and muscle re-education
This coverage is not intended to cover anybody who practices medicine, dentistry, chiropractic, veterinary, psychotherapy, nutritional and diet counseling, mental health counseling or marriage and family counseling with or without a license. (The Association may be able to refer you to equitable sources for obtaining professional coverage for these activities.)
